Grateful and Full of Hope... and The Amish!!

Hey all, I hope everyone reading this is doing well. We have been busy doing renovations on the Mud Creek farmhouse since we bought it a couple weeks ago.  The process to purchase this land was incredibly arduous.  New York is a different animal when it comes to buying and selling homes.   When we decided to sell in Idaho, we literally had it on the market for three days and began negotiations the fourth day.  We closed in 10 days.  This is quite the contrast to our experience in New York.  We began talking with the land owners here during the end of July and didn't close until mid October.  I think this has to do with licensing of New York's real estate professionals.  Regardless, we achieved it and I am so very grateful to have this new wholesome opportunity. In the past two weeks we have removed old carpet and drywall and we've painted the majority of the house.  I built a bench for our dining room and have begun planing our wood pla...

Mud Creek Farm

Hello all, Time sure does fly by!  I have been wanting to write an update for a while now and looked back at the last post and it was a month ago.  We have been pretty busy here in Oneida. When we returned from South Carolina, we had an important appointment for Henry.  It was a milestone type appointment that would either require he obtain services to speed him up to his age level in movement and communication.  I have always felt he was about 3-4 weeks behind because he was forced out of the womb at 37 weeks.  He wasn't quite cooked yet! We settled in after returning from SC and everyone but Rick got sick.  Laura got it first, then Lisa got sick and then I got sick.  Laura and I were freaking out thinking we got COVID, but it was a cold.  They do still exist.  The symptom difference is that with COVID, you get a severe deep cough, a fever and  rarely nasal issues besides a loss of smell.  We had sinus infections or something nasty...

Make Farming Cool Again!

Hello all! We made it back from South Carolina.  Myrtle Beach was pretty fun.  It was the first time I have seen the Atlantic Ocean.  I have to say, it really looked like the Pacific Ocean.   It was fun to hang out with Rick and Lisa and Chris, Kara and Sammy on the beach.  We boogie boarded and relaxed in the sand.  It is definitely way more humid down there compared to the west coast.  I have gotten used to it since we arrived earlier this summer.  It's hard to believe Fall is creeping up on us already. Right before we left on our vacation with the family, we got serious about buying a home.  Our house had 3 offers immediately and sold for more than I ever expected it to sell for.  It closed a couple weeks ago right before we left for Myrtle Beach.   Laura and I made a strong decision to commit to buying the farmhouse in Munnsville New York.  Munnsville is located just south of Oneida, about 5 minutes or so away from Rick and...

Migrating East

Hey all, I haven't written in a while because I've been swamped with prepping our house to sell and traveling a little bit here in Upstate NY.   We recently found a buyer of our house a week or so ago.  I came back to Boise to get the house prepped and repaired, in order to get it on the market for the best price we could get.  The whole process took about a week and a half.   Our yard was very dead in the back after a glitch in my watering app occurred.  My brother Brian and I worked tirelessly replacing the sod the in the back.  We rented a sod cutter machine from Tates Rents up the road and went to town.  In about two days, we had it replaced.   We also cleaned the entire property with a pressure washer.  It is amazing what kind of debris can collect after only 4 months away from the property.  Brian pressure washed the fence and helped me with the garden beds and planting some Juniper bushes in the alleyway.  When we finis...
